Santuario dedicato a Sant'Antonio Maria Gianelli. Antonio Maria Gianelli nacque a Cerreta, frazione di Carro, il 12 aprile 1789 (l'anno della Rivoluzione Francese) durante le feste pasquali, da una povera famiglia di contadini da cui apprese la carità, lo spirito di sacrificio, la capacità di condivisione. Fin da piccolo molto assiduo alla Chiesa di Castello, fu educato nel Seminario di Genova. Fu ordinato sacerdote il 24 maggio 1812 e venne poi nominato Arciprete di Chiavari nel 1826 ed insieme, Vicario nella Val di Vara. Quando, nel 1835 la peste contagiava Chiavari, la popolazione si strinse disperatamente e fiduciosamente intorno al suo Arciprete. San Gianelli, ancora una volta, rimase al loro fianco, finchè la terribile malattia fu sconfitta.Il Santo Gianelli, il 12 gennaio 1829, per provvedere al futuro di molte fanciulle povere, ha fondato l'ordine delle Figlie di Maria Santissima dell'Orto, conosciute in tutto il mondo come Suore Gianelline. Nell'autunno del 1837 fu designato Vescovo di Bobbio.Dopo una vita di sacrifici e privazioni, morì di tisi a Piacenza il 7 giugno 1846 a soli 57 anni. Beatificato nel 1925 da Papa Pio XI, il 21 ottobre 1951 il Papa Pio XII lo proclama Santo. Il 4 giugno 2000 è proclamato Patrono della Val di Vara
