60s di esposizione, Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore, laguna veneziana. Nell'XVIII-IX secolo l'isola venne edificata con una piccola chiesetta in legno, dedicata a San Giorgio. Nel corso dei secoli venne costruito un monastero, ora al centro si erge maestosa la facciata della Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore, progettata da Andrea Palladio, elemento essenziale del panorama visibile dalla piazzetta. Durante il periodo napoleonico il monastero venne soppresso e l'isola divenne un presidio militare, in seguito mantenuto anche sotto l'impero Austro-Ungarico e, successivamente, il Regno d'Italia. Solo nel 1951 il Governo Italiano concesse l'utilizzo del monastero e delle aree adiacenti alla Fondazione Giorgio Cini, creando i presupposti per il processo di restauro e riqualificazione.
