- I was very touched observing the way how these gentle creatures take care of each other and expecially of their babies. It surprised me to see so much human expression in the baby's face in this picture. These amazing primates live in social groups of 5 to 15 individuals, where infants are raised cooperatively by any female troop member. They also cooperate together to defend each other from predators like eagles, leopards and chimpanzees. The black and white colobus is born entirely white. It takes five weeks before the baby resembles its parents. It becomes black, with white hair framing it's face, running down it's side, and covering the fluffy end of the long tail, that is one and a half times as long as the body.
