Date: 2013.06. Location: Heves megye, Hungary. (Update) I have been trying to shoot owlflies (Libelloides macaronius) for two days in the morning and in the evening, without any success. I have been observing these butterflies at the west leg of the B?kk-plateau, as they sometimes appeared on the gentle slopes, along a long ridge. In the last morning before coming home, I was out in the field long before sunrise, and after a 90-minute-search I got myself together and I went to sweep the ridge for an umpteen time. To my luck the clouded summer morning provided sufficient light, when, as a token of my patience, finally I could glimpse a relaxed specimen, which I could immortalize. As the Sun was still in captivity by the clouds, I had to wait for the wing opening moves of the owlfly, so I thought I take a walk in the meantime. To my surprise, about ten meters away, in cloaking of the high grass, I found this swallowtail butterfly (Papilio machaon), which in a very friendly manner, in the company of a grasshopper, was waiting for the exceptionally late-waking sun-rays. While I was watching these tiny insects, I felt like some sort of unsolvable secret and natural wisdom flows from them.
