This ancient stone bridge of Roman origin owes its name to a legend, according to which it was built by the Devil in one night after he made a deal with a monk, come to evangelize the land but unable to cross the river. In exchange of the bridge, the Saint promised him the soul of the first passerby. But when the bridge was finished the Saint sent a dog and tricked the devil (and the dog as well, I dare say!)
