"El hornero" (letteralmente "il fornaio") è un passeriforme appartenente alla famiglia dei Furnariidae, diffuso nella parte orientale del Sud America. Si tratta di uccelli monogami e territoriali. Entrambi i sessi partecipano alla costruzione del nido, alla cova e all'allevamento della prole. Il suo curioso nome, richiamato anche dal nome scientifico (Furnarius rufus), è dovuto alla particolarità di costruire nidi di fango simili a piccoli forni.
