Costruita dal 1614 al 1697 su progetto di Giovanni Battista Crespi, consiste in un'anima in muratura e tralicci di ferro e legno, ricoperti da lastre di rame, mentre il capo e le mani sono in bronzo. 23,40 metri di altezza sopra gli 11,70 del piedistallo granitico fanno di questa statua una tra le più grosse al mondo. E' possibile accedere al suo interno attraverso una scalinata che conduce fino alla possente testa, punto di vista d'eccezione da cui si gode di un incantevole panorama.(dal sito Lago Maggiore e le sue valli). Durante la visita ho scattato diverse fotografie, la maggior parte dalla scalinata di accesso alla statua (un classico), questa non rende sicuramente giustizia alla maestosità del monumento, ma mi piaceva l'idea di un punto di ripresa "insolito".
