Farewell time sent on October 09, 2023 (3:13) by Fabio Ponso. 200 comments, 2492 views. [retina]

, 1/500 f/2.8, ISO 320, hand held. Uthai Thani, Thailand.

... I am writing to you from Singapore and a few days ago I came across a funeral that looked like a gathering of old friends, smiling toasting their loved one. The inhabitants of the skyscraper where the deceased lived exposed numerous cages of colorful birds to cheer up the sad event.

Exactly, I'm not surprised, it's typical of oriental culture... beautiful testimony, thank you for sharing it here ...
... you are trying your hand at a long and difficult photographic story sometimes, both for the situations taken and for you who live them live ....

That's right, as difficult as it is stimulating... and also addictive...
Thank you very much Benny.

I appreciated the story I read from the caption: it is a nice way, I would say soft, to detach oneself from loved ones and from this earthly life.

Agree...
The looks and poses of the two women give me serenity even in such a sad moment.
You are the message you wanted to convey is this, you succeeded.

Exactly, it is an important aspect of the photo in my opinion, I appreciate you have highlighted it ...
Thank you very much Massimo.

Every culture has its own cult of death, you have to temper it somehow

Absolutely true...
... the fact is, however, that of resurrected et similia have never been seen

Maybe yes, only that we did not notice ... go know... ;-)
Thank you very much Pinitti.

You are an inexhaustible source of travel reports from which you extrapolate and grant us images and experiences of peoples and cultures light years away from our Western conception. In this case, I read your caption very carefully. It is inherent in man to remove the taboo of death by expressing himself in different religious and cultural forms that lead to the assumption of another bodily life. I am pleased Fabio.
Bye gios ;-)

Very acute and intelligent reflection on which I fully agree and that I appreciate very much you have highlighted ...

When it is said that one of my photos tells I am always particularly happy ...
very nice this keep the ashes for three years as if the moment of detachment occurs when the spirits have calmed down and feel less the lack of the dear extinct!

The 3 years actually vary from family to family and depend on various factors... but yours is a fair and careful reflection that I appreciate so much ...
Thank you very much Agata.

First of all good job for the photographic project Fabio, you introduced me to this aspect of Thai traditions that I would never have deepened, excellent realization with the mother and daughter smiling for their relatives.
Congratulations Fabio
