A lost battle sent on August 05, 2019 (14:37) by Susy Dan. 92 comments, 3489 views. [retina]

at 176mm, 1/1000 f/6.3, ISO 400, hand held. Kruger National Park, South Africa. Specie: Connochaetes taurinus

What a scene! Goodness me!
Congratulations for the document :-o
It's nature, I know, but I love animals too much to put up with their suffering.

I understand you.
It's nature, but in these cases I don't even shoot. Imagine.
I almost seem to disrespect the "dying victim" taking advantage of his suffering
For many photographers (and I also believe for many simple "tourists/travellers") instead scenes like this are the top.
Someone wrote (probably rightly) that such a scene is worth the trip
I hope I always don't see them... punctually understood us in the middle (not "terribly spectacular" like the one you portrayed)
ButBut this is to the wonderful, gory, beautiful nature.
Congratulations again for this amazing document!

Hello, Lord. I must say that in so many years of Africa I have rarely witnessed bloody scenes "in progress". It's just a coincidence, because life and death are inextricably intertwined and you may come across scenes like this. "I'm always rooting" for the part that's bound to succumb, but I don't even know if it's right, if it's not to accept the fact that other lives depend on every death in Africa. I witnessed, with understandable, horror at the capture of an impala by a female cheetah. A very hard scene, but behind her came her puppies, very hungry... and I thought that's nature. Stupid and cruel. Inextricably.
A warm greeting and thank you for leaving your comment.

Right
I think exactly like you. Part for the prey... "but I'm not sure it's right to think so"
This is the wonderful and tremendous nature !
More compliments (even for other shots)

A photo that well documents a dramatic event that is part of life...

Beyond the beautiful shot, acclaim for the story.
This is nature, one dies to keep the other alive.
They are animals and not beasts as many times man is :-"
