Ringrazio Giovanni e Davide per avermi fatto notare la mancanza di una didascalia che, in particolare citasse i leoni “arboricoli” o arrampicatori, che hanno sviluppato la capacità di salire sugli alberi. Li si trova in alcuni parchi in Tanzania, soprattutto Lake Manyara e a volte Tarangire e Serengeti, e in Uganda, nel Queen Elizabeth NP. Non è comunque uno spettacolo molto comune. In questa immagine ce ne sono due più visibili a sx e uno seminascosto dai rami a dx. Sul perché i leoni abbiano sviluppato questa abilità ci sono ipotesi diverse. Potrebbe essere per sfuggire al fastidio di mosche e insetti quando l'erba, dopo le piogge, ne è piena o anche per sfuggire alla minaccia di branchi di bufali quando i numeri siano a loro sfavore. Comunque sia, lo spettacolo è insolito e straordinario.
