Upside down sent on February 05, 2022 (18:08) by MarcoCoppola. 83 comments, 1979 views. [retina]

, 1/500 f/14.0, ISO 1000, tripod. Specie: Papilio machaon

As for the photo, a single note: I would have kept in the frame only the sprig avoiding framing the stem in the right corner. In my opinion you would get a "cleaner" result.
Anyway, given your passion for macaoni, I would propose you a photographic challenge: to immortalize them in all their phases.
It will be a struggle (it takes time but also a bit of luck) but in the end it will be a great satisfaction. I did it a few years ago (you can find something qua in my site), and now I just collect them and accompany them safely to flickering, with a survival rate practically opposite to that in nature (95%) :-)

Hi Ndrew thank you very much for the advice.
Unfortunately that day there was a slight wind, I shot with fast times and I preferred not to get too close to the subject. In post production I also made a cutout excluding the stem and the rightmost part of the photo, but I preferred this shot.
I already photographed the macaone during its phases last summer. The photos satisfy me as a scene shot and lighting, but the background in my opinion needs to be improved.
Now I'm gearing up for next spring.
Then of course I have to hope that the macaone makes the chrysalis on the twig and not on the walls of the fauna box :-)

When the trip starts, it is natural to document the whole cycle. I too would like to redo them with a better background, but it really takes a lot of time and good will :-)

That is a classic, unfortunately. Good luck :-D

I saw your photos on the site, really beautiful!
The yellow background is beautiful, can I ask you what you used, maybe a colored sheet?
