Ginosa TA, il castello normanno,copio e incollo da internet: “Il Castello venne costruito verso il 1080 da Roberto il Guiscardo per difendersi dalle possibili incursioni saracene. Esso, quindi, costituiva la difesa del paese ed era quindi l'abitazione del conte, e lo stesso stemma del Castello rappresentava lo stemma del paese. Il sottosuolo del Castello comprende antri e caverne, e al di sotto ancora erano state scavate tre profonde fosse coniche, larghe al fondo e restringentisi in alto, adibite più tardi a cisterne, ma dapprima orride carceri scavate nella pietra, con una grata di ferro per fargli passare l'aria.”
