Era una fredda notte nei pressi di Reine, -10° ed il vento gelido ci sferzava il viso. Eravamo pronti all'aurora ma eravamo troppo in prossimità della cittadina quando all'improvviso fece capolino in tutta la sua magnificenza. Ci precipitammo in auto per cambiare velocemente posto da cui scattare infilandoci nella prima stradina buia che si arrampicava debolmente verso un promontorio. L'eccitazione in auto salì velocemente. Dopo una decida di minuti la strada sbarrata bloccò il nostro cammino. Attorno a noi ora il buio più assoluto, eravamo nei pressi di una casetta sperduta ed illuminati debolmente solo con un lumicino. Corremmo fuori dall'auto e cercammo velocemente il posto migliore per scattare e finalmente iniziammo ad immortalare questo spettacolo incredibile. Dopo pochi minuti ci accorgemmo però che c'era qualche cavo sopra di noi (le Lofoten sono piene di cavi!) così decidemmo di andare più su, ci arrampicammo quindi con la neve fino al ginocchio, a fatica, carichi dell'attrezzatura nell'oscurità con il solo aiuto delle nostre torce, facendo fatica a vedere dove stavamo andando (col senno di poi abbiamo realizzato la nostra incoscienza, ci poteva essere di tutto). Dopo pochi ma lunghi e faticosi minuti in salita con il fiato corto, arrivammo ad un piccolo spiazzo dove finalmente liberi da cavi e qualsiasi altra cosa davamo sfogo alla gioia di vedere e fotografare questo evento incredibile.
