Mentre camminavo per le vie di Chiapa de Corzo, cittadina della regione del Chapas, ho casualmente gettato lo sguardo all'interno di questo portone e, colta la scena, non ho pensato un attimo a scattare. Entrambe le donne stavano guardando una telenovela (il cui genere in Messico è quasi una scuola di vita!); l'una continuava a dipingere lo splendido e variopinto vasellame proprio dell'artigianato locale, mentre l'altra si concedeva una pausa. Una scena di vita vera che mi è parsa molto naturale. Peraltro, andrebbe anche sfatato lo stereotipo della fantomatica "siesta" del messicano fannullone che dorme coperto dal sombrero. In realtà, i Messicani non sono assolutamente da considerarsi dei fannulloni, tuttaltro! Il clima della loro Terra, molto umido e caratterizzato da alte temperature, li costringe a cominciare le loro attività lavorative molto presto (talora all'alba) di modo da poter sfruttare le ore che concedono un po' di sollievo dalla calura. La pausa, ossia la cosiddetta siesta, è imprescindibile durante le ore centrali del giorno mentre la loro attività riprende poi verso le cinque della sera. Mi raccontava la guida locale che vi sono persone che, per sopravvivere, svolgono anche tre lavori e che per raggiungere le grandi città, dove trovano maggior facilità di impiego, compiono tragitti giornalieri che raggiungono persino le cinque ore di percorrenza. Ho dunque sfatato una falsa nomea dei messicani. D'altra parte, anche a noi da fastidio quando l'italiano è associato a "Pizza, mafia, mandolino" o, come mi sono sentita dire spesso dai venditori ambulanti..... al "bunga bunga" ;)
