È composta da un doppio involucro: all'esterno mattoni, elemento ricorrente nelle architetture del Guarini, e pietra chiara all'interno, elemento portante di tutta la parte superiore. Eretta a chiusura di una cappella a pianta centrale completamente sorretta e rivestita di marmi neri, culmina nella stella centrale con la colomba raggiata dello Spirito Santo e, all'esterno, la cuspide sormontata dalla croce. Tipico delle architettura barocche, la luce è un elemento fondamentale della sua architettura, che l'alleggerisce e rafforza il metaforico percorso della morte verso la resurrezione di cui si fa metafora.
