In provincia di Oristano, Bosa è una realtà particolarmente suggestiva. Innanzi tutto è l'unico centro urbano della Sardegna edificato sull'estuario di un fiume, dove è anche possibile navigare con piccole imbarcazioni. E' celebre per la lavorazione e l'esportazione del corallo, cosi come per la lavorazione dei tessuti, per i ricami e per i cesti intrecciati in asfodelo. Non mancano le prelibatezze enogastronomiche, tra cui spicca la Malvasia che ha meritato il marchio DOC e al quale è dedicato anche un itinerario. Sono accontentati anche gli amanti di arte, storia e cultura grazie alla presenza di monumenti come il Castello dei Malaspina e diverse chiese, cosi come gli appassionati di trekking e birdwatching che possono ammirare gli splendidi paesaggi offerti dalla Riserva naturale di Capo Marragiu e Monte Mannu. E, se si vuole parlare di tradizioni, non si può fare a meno di nominare una tra le più colorate, coinvolgenti e sentite celebrazioni, la Festa di Santa Maria del Mare. L'evento è molto amato soprattutto dai pescatori, che diventano i veri protagonisti, e dagli agricoltori alla cui attività la festa era originariamente dedicata. E' proprio grazie alla caratteristica della città di essersi formata sul fiume che rende la manifestazione particolarmente suggestiva. Le imbarcazioni vengono addobbate con bandiere, canne e fiori colorati per accompagnare la Madonna nel tragitto che compie sulle acque del fiume dalla chiesa di Bosa Marina fino alla Cattedrale, che si trova nel centro storico della città, dove viene celebrata la messa della mattina. Nel tardo pomeriggio le rive del fiume Temo si riempiono di turisti ed abitanti che accorrono ad ammirare da vicino la processione che la Madonna compie nuovamente per ritornare nella sua chiesa di Santa Maria del Mare, dove la messa in programma è officiata dal vescovo di Bosa. Di sera inizia la vera e propria festa che prevede la preparazione e la degustazione di prodotti locali assieme a manifestazioni folcloristiche e a spettacoli di fuochi d'artificio. Ecco quindi un ulteriore valore aggiunto di questa città sarda che con le sue celebrazioni è capace di evocare atmosfere magiche e misteriose pronte a coinvolgere non solo tutta la popolazione ma quanti vengono a scoprire la costa occidentale del centro nord della Sardegna.
