After I moved in Photoshop, working on curves and levels progradually pulled out as much as possible. I noticed that in your pose is very banding, both horizontal and vertical, I do not know whether it is due to the lack of flat field or another, maybe someone can explain better than me. With the 500D I've ever had, even without the flat, maybe it depends on the sensor. However, I think with a more thorough job of my somewhat 'hasty you can eliminate this problem. The final image is off from 3 different elaborations of the initial image, one for the external parts, one for the heart of the nebula and another for the intermediate part, made of three layers and then joined. I applied unsharp mask only on certain areas and noise reduction on others, even if a little 'left of it. After I reduced a little 'stellar diameters, then I applied an S-curve on only the red channel to turn it up a bit' and at the same time lower indark tones to keep it out in the sky. Finally I gave a bit of saturation on everything and I cropped a bit 'to adjust the picture.
I hope you like it, however I think that there is an object on which the personal taste dell'astrofotografo affects as much as the M42, I have really seen all the colors!

Poi ti mando anche il tiff, è di 80 MB. Ho usato tutte le 9 immagini che mi hai mandato. Non è un lavoro molto accurato, ci ho lavorato un'oretta, giusto per vedere cosa si poteva tirare fuori dalle pose. Il bilanciamento dei colori non è ottimale perchè ho usato le impostazioni della mia 500D modificata, ho poi corretto ancora un po' dopo, ma sarebbe sempre meglio farlo in partenza. L'allineamento e la compositazione delle pose l'ho fatto con MaxIm DL, con il comando SDmask, che è un tipo un po' più sofisticato di media e nel tuo caso è stato utile per rimuovere un po' di pixel caldi, dato che non c'erano i dark. Dopo sono passata in Photoshop, lavorando su curve e livelli progressivamente ho tirato fuori il più possibile. Ho notato che nelle tue pose c'è molto banding, sia orizzontale che verticale, non so se sia dovuto alla mancanza dei flat field o ad altro, forse qualcuno ti potrà spiegare meglio di me. Con la 500D non l'ho mai avuto, nemmeno senza i flat, forse dipende dal sensore. Comunque penso che con un lavoro più accurato del mio un po' frettoloso si possa eliminare anche questo problema. L'immagine finale viene fuori da 3 diverse elaborazioni dell'immagine di partenza, una per le parti esterne, una per il cuore della nebulosa e un'altra per la parte intermedia, messe su tre layers e poi unite. Ho applicato maschera di contrasto solo su alcune zone e riduzione del rumore su altre, anche se un po' ne è rimasto. Dopo ho ridotto un po' i diametri stellari, poi ho applicato una curva a S sul solo canale rosso, per alzarlo un po' e nel contempo abbassarlo nei toni scuri per non farlo uscire nel fondo cielo. Infine ho dato una punta di saturazione su tutto e ho croppato un po' per aggiustare l'inquadratura.
Spero che ti piaccia, comunque penso che non ci sia un oggetto su cui il gusto personale dell'astrofotografo influisca tanto come la M42, ne ho davvero viste di tutti i colori!
