There is a bit of magic in this shot, a surreal atmosphere where the main subject is not the subject, everything is played with the colors; a picture to read carefully slowly.
Good boy

Not sure if it was intentional but this has a water color like quality! Very nice!

A great suggestion of opposite colors and contrasts of splendid light, very good.

Compo and interesting image, that blue and cold tonality makes particular the liveries of the moving subjects creating a particular atmosphere; congratulations Tim.

The dominion of light that enhances everything when it is laid on it.

Good day

Thank you so much EVERYONE!

There are a number of faults with this photo, each of which has possibly helped create the 'watercolour' treatment a few have said.

These are: The aging D7100 really does struggle above 2500 iso

The even older non-stabilised Sigma at full aperture at near maximum focal length might be OK in the centre but sharpness falls off considerably towards the corners. My example I suspect has a slight de-centering fault, which in those days, Sigma was rather notorious for.

Subject movement has blurred the dog and walker slightly. A tripod wouldn't have helped much in this case, either.

Having said all that, despite all these shortcomings, I got the image, handheld, in near darkness and no one has said that the quality was actually poor.

Without getting a D500 and modern Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8, I couldn't really have got a much better original RAW file.

I am all too aware of my gear's limitations and I do try to limit its use to what it is capable of, which can be restrictive of my creative wishes, but as with most things in life, compromises do have to be made.

Particular image that the reduced sharp area and the accentuation of the chromatic dominants make pleasantly pictorial.
Congratulations, hello
