Al centro della Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, dedicata al re d'Italia, si trova uno stemma raffigurante un toro che rappresenta la città di Torino. La Galleria fu aperta nel 1867 e completata nel 1878, rappresenta il passaggio pedonale d'eccellenza che collega Piazza del Duomo a Piazza della Scala. Soprannominata "il salotto dei milanesi" per l'ambiente sfarzoso, elegante e ricco di prestigiosi negozi, ristoranti, bar alla moda e librerie. La Galleria è formata da un impianto a crociera al cui interno risalta la cupola centrale in ferro e vetro. Nella volta, che si alza all'incrocio dei bracci fino a 47 metri, sono raffigurati a mosaico i continenti Asia, Africa, Europa e America. Nell'ottagono centrale, oggi luogo privilegiato per eventi e installazioni, è situato sul pavimento il simbolo araldico dei Savoia con una croce bianca in campo rosso ed il famoso toro raffigurato con gli "attributi" in vista. L'usanza dice che porti fortuna porre il piede sopra gli attributi del toro (simbolo di forza e vigore) e compiere una rotazione ad occhi chiusi facendo perno su quel piede. Migliaia di turisti e milanesi ogni giorno li schiacciano ritualmente come portafortuna! Secondo la leggenda però porta fortuna ruotare di 360° con il tallone del piede destro sui testicoli del toro solo alle ore 24 del 31 dicembre!!
