Location: Proprietà privata/riserva protetta - Volano (FE), Parco del Delta del Po // Il cavallo Delta (nella foto si vede nel posteriore la marchiatura) è il diretto discendente dell'antichissimo e ammirato Camargue. Del suo progenitore ha conservato l'agilità, il coraggio, e la resistenza. Qualità indispensabili per poter vivere nell'ambiente duro e selettivo delle zone umide del Parco del Delta del Po. Un cavallo da sella rustico ma docile e attento, come lascia trasparire il suo sguardo dolce e amico, che non nasconde la fierezza di chi è cresciuto in piena libertà. Il suo mantello scuro alla nascita, diventa grigio nell'arco di tre anni. Arti e zoccoli sono forti, larghi e sicuri. La groppa è leggermente inclinata, il petto profondo e la coscia carnosa. Grazie a queste sue peculiarità morfologiche e di carattere, egli è stato per millenni il compagno dell'uomo in guerra, nell'allevamento dei neri tori da combattimento Camargue (che vi mostrerò in alcune foto e presenti nella medesima riserva privata), e nelle difficili discipline sportive. Un imprenditore ferrarese, ha trapiantato lungo il litorale di Volano forse il più grosso branco di cavalli camarghesi (sono oltre 70!) che sia mai stato esportato nel resto dell'Europa. Questi splendidi animali vivono in questa riserva protetta (oltre 60 ettari) che si espande con lunghe strisce di terra tra le acque deltizie del Po. E' stato un incontro molto emozionante! :-)
