con Canon EF 1.4x III at 358mm, 1/640 f/10.0, ISO 3200, hand held. Specie: Canis simensis

Etiopia.

Beautiful and unfortunately rare catch. Everything that has been written makes me sad.

Goodmorning everyone.
First of all congratulations for the great shot.
Second saddened to read that the situation that I had read informing me of this wolf is even worse!

I wanted to ask how is the situation in terms of the safety of tourists. I had recently read on the website of farnesina of important problems in Ethiopia!

To John:
In fact it was all very quiet, but our tour mainly dedicated to the wolf and the numerous birds took us pretty much very quiet areas. if things do not get worse in the short I could safely recommend a visit.
Thanks also to all the others who have commented on the pictures: I wish they were many more acommentare what is happening to the wolf in total silence: - /: - /: - /: - /

As for the rest we are now going to a dark place, I will not be overly pessimistic soluzioni..più but I do not see what else I do not see a willingness to commit to remedy.

Beautiful animal and beautiful shot. I was there in 2017, I watched a dozen, maybe the situation, numerically speaking, is not so dramatic, I want to be optimistic. Certainly the road, still unpaved, is trafficked by trucks that descend down to the Harenna forest, and climbing on the highest peak you can see many herds of pets, but the population of rodents is still numerous and anyway up there apart from some shepherd, there is no one around and the wolf can be seen along the road not so hard, especially early in the morning. However beautiful place and fascinating animal.

Hello Manzek: we have the same experience and feeling :-) The place is beautiful, the situation of wolves (spectacular animals) perhaps as you say not at risk, but certainly there is great interest from institutions and safeguard companies in resolving in a manner definitive coexistence between shepherds and wolves. I have the impression that it is said that things go by themselves ... Then the traffic of trucks and buses is really chaotic: -o: -o
However I too, with other friends, I returned in November 2017 and I found that in fact the situation has not worsened, indeed we have observed more wolves and better than last time. I photographed a fighter more or less in the same situation of the year before :-D :-D
