Many thanks, Dino! Thanks, Tim! I agree - I ought! I tried similar shots in the same location tonight in better conditions (it wasn't raining) but using my usual 18-300mm and the results were nothing like as pleasing! The problem with the 35mm lens is that it has no substance, so doesn't feel right...... Thank you so much, Mauro! And Peppe, too! Many thanks for your lovely comment, Johnny! Great comments from you, too, Angelo and Mattew - thank you so much! Buona notte a tutti! Ann :)) |

No excuse, you'll get used to it and then praise its lightness and simplicity. But try shooting at f2 instead of f5.6. |

Ok - I'll try that! I'm off to London on Thursday and was considering taking this lens with me. I'll have quite a bit to carry, so I would prefer to take just a couple of lenses but this one is so light, it almost doesn't count! |

I'm in London on Thursday too! Indeed, it seems to be considered as a mere accessory by some! And by f2 I mean at night and for shallow focus during the day, it'll keep the iso down then. I'll take my Sigma Art 30mm f1.4, which is much heavier. There's a cheap bargain Nikkor DX 40mm f2.8 macro which goes to life size and weighs almost nothing compared to the Sigma 105mm we both have. OK, the short focal length means you have to get very very close to your subject (so no bugs) but its compactness means you would take it out a lot more. As an equivalent to 60mm in FX terms, it's also a faster than your zoom standard lens too. Image quality is excellent, apparently. |

I'm there for a blipmeet and an opera - I'm guessing your plans will be quite different! I'll be staying a couple of nights with my son, so a catch up time with him, too! I've just googled the lens - it does sound most appealing and at a very good price, too! |

Oh yes, I was excited by the coincidence rather than anything more and I'm meeting Des. London is also a very big place! Tomorrow it's Weymouth. (Also £16 return on a few selected trains) That reminds me....(it might even be less rainy (( a deluge would be less rainy! lol) As for the 40mm, there's nothing to go wrong, so secondhand should be fine also, but no absolute bargains. Don't forget Juza's own section on this lens - 9.4/10 is a very high user score! www.juzaphoto.com/recensione.php?l=en&t=nikon_40dx_micro |

Yes - it is quite a coincidence! As you say, a big place! Enjoy Weymouth! That horrendous weather didn't stop you taking great photos - I seem to remember the one you posted was pretty popular! |

I will. I aim to not get back til after midnight. It's a long journey, via Southampton but that should mean sunset whilst there, which naturally excites me. Have a good day yourself! |
