con Sigma 2x TC-2001, 1/1250 f/8.0, ISO 500, hand held. Specie: Todiramphus macleayii

Medium sized Kingfisher. Shot taken from about 30 meters at 600mm. Shy subject I have seen many times but hard to get a good shot. This is the most beautiful specimen I have seen as it has the most vibrant colors. Normally the head is not so dark blue and the blue feathers on the back normally not so many shades. I also have some closer shots at about 18-20 to post late.

Looks almost like the collared kingfisher except for a deeper blue head cap, nice shot :-)

Thank you Satish, Davide, Wally and Doug : )
Davide, sometimes it is hard to tell. I don't think it is a collared kingfisher but I saw a photo recently of a forest kingfisher(Australia) that had the similar blues and aqua colors. Most photo's I've seen of forest kingfishers though do not have the orange/yellow hues on the belly, forehead and neck, that's more like the sacred kingfisher.

I agree, it is indeed a sacred kingfisher, I was just wondering how similar they look :-)
