Aquarium Photography  - February 27, 2007

I've always been fascinated by the underwater world. The fishes are some of the most amazing creatures - there are so many varieties of shapes and colors! So far, I've not had yet the opportunity to explore underwater photography, but my love for fishes is always strong. Every time that I see an acquarium I give it a fascinated look - and you can imagine how I was...

Fenice's World - February 20, 2007

Fenice's website is now online! I've met Giulia "Fenice" in late December 2006 - after few months, she has become one of my truly best friends :-) Her entusiasm for nature appears clearly into each of her images: even though she has begun to photograph quite recently (she has the tele lens from just one month!), she has already many great photos, and she is always improving!

I highly recomment the visit: http://www.pbase.com/fenice

Chamoises - February 19, 2007

The Canon 600 f/4 L IS USM usually is considered a "tripod lens" - it weights 5.5 kg, and it is not easy to handheld it for an entire day. But I knew that we were going to walk a lot, and I wanted to reduce weight as much as possible, so I decided to leave at home the sturdy, but bulky and heavy, Gitzo 1548 tripod with Wimberley head. I carried...

A day with grebes - by Juza & Fenice - February 07, 2007

Laying flat on the ground, side by side with my friend Fenice, I had the luck to admire the elegant courtship dance of a couple of grebes. As every time that I photograph a water bird, I tried to place the lens as low as possible: luckly, we found a quay along the Sile river, where we could get almost at water level, placing the lenses directly on the ground. Since the grebes were...

Virtual Lens Plant - February 02, 2007

Canon has published a very interesting series of video that shows how a lens is manufactured, from the RAW materials to the final assembly.

You can view the lens manufacturing videos (and some other videos about lenses and interviews) on the Canon Camera Museum website: http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/tech/l_plant/f_index.html

Choices - February 01, 2007

Choices...many times, you have to face a choice...and here, I had a particulary difficult choice: I had just realized that I was on the wrong path...it was late afternoon, and I had still few hours of light. As if it was not enough, there was a thick fog, I was alone, and tired. The darn GPS was somewhere on my desktop, at home...But let's begin from...
