What is a 100% crop? - August 06, 2007

In photography forums and review you will often see the term "100% crop". What does it mean? A 100% crop is a crop, not resized, from the full size image. If you want too see a detail of a photo at full resolution, you have two possibilities: you can show the entire photo at full resolution (but it is not recommended for internet, since it would take some time to download), otherwise you can show just a small portion of the photo. In other words...

The new article is online: What is a 100% crop?

Canon EOS 1D Mark III preview - August 03, 2007

The new top of the line Canon camera has arrived. The 1D Mark III is a killer camera for sport and nature photographers - it offers an unpreceded 10 FPS continuous shooting speed with a 10 megapixels APS-H (1.3x) sensor. Other major innovations include a new autofocus system with 19 cross-type AF sensors, ISO 50-6400, anti-dust system and 3.0" LCD with live view. Does it delivers what it promises? I'm going to publish a detailed review next week, when I'll have the camera in my hands (thanks Marco!); in the meantime, you can learn more about the 1D3 in this concise preview.
