Canon News - March 24, 2006

Some interesting news for Canon users! The source is not official, but I am pretty sure about his reliability. (update 01 october 2006: well...I was wrong ;-)...the new 1 is going to be annunced in 2007)

- The next Canon 1 series will be announced on September 2006, at Photokina. It has a 22 megapixel fullframe CMOS sensor (still a bayer-type, Canon is working on a different sensor but it won't be ready in the next future). It has a new AF system and 5 or more FPS. The price will be quite lower than the 1Ds (I expect it to be near $5,000).

- The Canon 1Ds Mark II is currently (unofficially) discontinued; the stock supplies had been calculated to last until the new 1. The 1D MarkII-N, instead, will remain in production for some time, even after the introduction of the new 1.

- The Canon 30D is not the last APS-C camera from Canon. There will be many other consumer models, and it is possible that Canon will announce even an higher end model, with specifications similar to the rumored 35D (10+ megapixels, 7FPS). Canon is planning new EF-S lenses, too.

- The price of the 5D will drop various times during the year. The next drop will be on April 01: Canon will announce a $ 300 rebate that brings the actual price to $ 2600! By the end of the year, it will be near $2300.

That's all :-) My suggestions: if you are interested in a Canon 1 series camera, wait six months until the next 1 is available. If you are interested in the Canon 5D, you just have to wait 1 week to save $300 :-)

New Publications by Juza and D200 Review by Thom Hogan - March 22, 2006

Some of mine photos and articles had been published on the March issue of the Italian magazine "Fotocamere Digitali". More details in the publications page.

Thom Hogan has published his review of the Nikon D200, the review of Nikkor 18-200 VR and some thoughts about PMA 2006.

Last but not least: the Ferrari Testarossa that graces the cover of JuzaPhoto is not my car! I thought that it was obvious but - given the number of e-mails I received - it wasn't ;-)

The flowers are one of the most appealing subject for many nature photographers, because they have a great variety of shapes and colors. They are not difficult subjects, but you need to know the basic techniques to capture their beauty...

The spring is coming: read the article Flora Photography to be ready to take beautiful flower photos :-)
