The End of Film Era  - January 22, 2006
In the latest weeks, there had been a couple of major announcements, that - in my opinion - mark the end of film era.

- on Thursday 12 January, Nikon has announced that it is going to focus on digital, and all Nikon film cameras are now discontinued with the exception of the recent Nikon F6. The majority of manual focus lenses had been discontinued, too.

- on Thursday 19 January, Konica Minolta has announced that it is withdrawing from the photo arena, both film and digital. Sony will continue to develop digital SLRs with KM mount.

Nowadays, Canon is the last major manufacturer that still produces film cameras, but I bet that they will focus exclusively on digital as soon as they have a $400 entry-level DSLR.

The future is digital, and I think that we will see some great innovations this year, beginning from the first "DSLR" camera with live preview and digital viewfinder, that will be announced the 26 of this month by Olympus. Many other innovations are going to be announced in the next weeks :-)

New Photos and Updated Galleries  - January 19, 2006
I have added new photos in the galleries and I have updated the structure of the pages to make then even more useful and interesting :-)

All the new photos will be bigger (640px instead of 525px); if possible, I'll update also the older photos. Moreover, I'll list all the techs of the photo (camera, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc.), and the new pages will have a new index structure (similar to the structure of the portfolio) :-)

Image Quality : The Dynamic Range  - January 05, 2006

The article about dynamic range was the last one that hadn't been updated yet - the improved version is now online!

The human eye has a great ability to distingue the detail into highly contrasted scenes : it has been estimated that it can view correctly a scene with 12 stops of difference between the brightest and darkest area.
In digital photography, the range of brightness values that can be registered by a sensor is called dynamic range; a wide dynamic range is better since it allows to capture more detail...

Nature Photography by Juza - Introduction  - January 02, 2006

As some of you might already have noticed, the structure of the "Nature Photography Articles" page has evolved; in these months all the articles had been updated and now they forms a coherent structure, a real "e-book" about nature photography.

The introduction, that presents the structure of the book, is not online :-)
