Canon 1D Mark IV vs Nikon D3s, Canon 1Ds3 e 7D!-

My test of the Canon 1D Mark IV is online! Thanks to my friend Sandro who
loaned me the 1D4, and Serpy who loaned the D3s, I have compared the two
flagship! Other than that, I have added to the comparison my own cameras, the
Canon 1DsIII and the 7D. The review includes a lot of 100% crops and even some
full size images for download!

The coast of France and other articles

I have always been deeply fascinated by the sea, but in my galleries I don't
have a lot of sea photos - the majority of my landscapes is taken between the
mountains. So, in late 2009, I decided to spend a couple of weeks in Normandy
and Bretagne (France) for a trip focuses on sea/coast landscapes...the new photo

Nikon D3s vs Canon 1D MarkIV, RAW comparison!

A member of the Dpreview forum has posted a very well done comparison about
D3s and 1D4 image quality. I really like this test because you can download the
RAW files, so you can judge the real image quality without being influenced by
camera settings (sharpening, noise reduction, etc) or by Jpeg! I'd say that the
Nikon D3 has at least 1 stop advantage in comparison with the Canon 1D4,
but...download the files and judge with your eyes :-)

Olympus E-P1 review and tests

The Micro Four Thirds is a new standard of cameras with a 17.3x13mm sensor
(2x magnification in comparison with 35mm) and without mirror: thanks to this
design, the MFT cameras can be lighter and smaller, and they offer several
advantages in comparison with reflex cameras. They can use electronic viewfinder
- a technology that in future will surpass the optical viewfinder, thanks to its
capability of real-time preview of exposure and depth of field;
they don't need...
I have used the Olympus E-P1 for a couple of weeks,
and my Olympus E-P1 (PEN) review

News from CES

Even though the big photographic news will come next month at PMA, there
have been some interesting news at CES. Panasonic has announced 48 GB and 64 GB
SDXC cards, and both Canon and Panasonic have announced the first compact
cameras that support this new format (SDXC replaces SDHC). Samsung has announced
the NX10, the first APS-C camera without mirror: it has electronic viewfinder
and OLED screen. Other specs are 14 mp sensor, 1280x720 @ 30 FPS video,
continuous shooting 3 FPS.
Canon has announced the 70-200 2.8 IS II, an upgrade that offers improved image
quality, 1:5 macro ratio and the new 4-stop image stabilizer. |
