Server update and other news - November 05, 2008
Yesterday, I have moved the forum on a new server. It takes few ours until the DNS spread, but not nearly everyone can access to the forum; if you still have problems, you may have to delete the DNS cache on your computer. If you have windows, click on Start > Run and write cmd; it will open a prompt, where you have to write ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter on your keyboard.

Olympus has announced the E-30, a mid-range SLR camera: click here for details and discussion!

Canon 1Ds Mark III Review update - October 31, 2008
I have updated the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III field review with a short comparison with the current hightest resolution SLRs. I think that the 5D2 has really changed the market; if I had to choose now the SLR that fits better my esigencies, I'd go for the 5D Mark II!

Other than that, I have added a detailed description to the Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 EX DG review. In future, I plan to expand this review, with more tests and with full size image samples available for download!

Tamron 18-270 and Canon 16-35 II previews - October 30, 2008
I have published on Juzaforum a preview of the Tamron 18-270, with some full size test photos!

Other than that, I have updated the Canon Lens Reviews page with the hands on preview of the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 L II.

Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 EX DG Review - October 28, 2008
The Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 is one of the most extreme lenses ever built for the 35mm (24x36) format: it is the only 500mm f/2.8 of the world...and it is even a zoom! It weights almost 16 kg and it is 72 centimeters long; actually it is not as enormous as it looks in photo, but of course it is pretty big (a bit longer than 600 f/4 + hood and clearly wider) and it is really, really heavy... I have had the possibility to try the unique Sigma 200-500 on my 1DsIII, and now my report is online!

Canon EF 200mm f/2L IS USM - October 24, 2008
The 200 f/2 IS is the successor of the 200 f/1.8 L, the brightest supertele ever manufactured by Canon. The new lens is 0.3 stop less bright than its predecessor, but it adds weather sealing and 4 stops IS, that made it much more handholdable. I have taken many handheld  photos at 1/13 (4 stops slower than 1/200) and there is no motion blur - the 4 stop IS works as advertised!

In these days I'm testing the new Canon 200 f/2 L IS: I have added my short review and some tests to the Canon Lens Reviews page!

Post Processing contest - October 23, 2008
Post processing is an essential component of digital photography: the "Post Processing contest" on JuzaForum is a great way to learn and improve!

Macro photography with Plamp - October 18, 2008
There are some simple and cheap accessories that can make an huge difference in your photography: the Wimberley Plamp is one of the accessories. The Plamp help to fight to of the worst enemy of macro photographers: the wind and busy backgrounds! Indeed, the plamp is one of the main reasons that led me to abandon the use of 2x Teleconverter in macro photography...

Grey Herons (Canon 400 f/4 DO + 2x) - October 09, 2008

I have recently tried the 400 f/4 DO...it is an interesting lens; extremely small and light :) The image quality is not bad, even though it is not as sharp as other Canon superteles, if you do a side by side comparison. This photo is taken wide open with the 2x TC; if you want to see how it performs, these are a couple of 100% crops...

Macro and Flora Photography - October 08, 2008

Macro photography allows to discover a whole new world of weird, colorful and fascinating creatures, that you often miss by naked eye: it is like exploring another planet! Subjects for macro photography can be found nearly everywhere, and you don't need a particularly advanced camera for macro photography...

The updated and improved article is now online! It includes detailed info about the accessories, and much more! Article: Macro and flora photography

The Great Canon Supertele Test - From 800 to 1600mm - October 07, 2008

It does not happen everyday to have six of the very best Canon superteles in hands: thanks to Sandro "Ceksalo", in a cold afternoon of October 2008 I have had the opportunity to compare side-by-side my 600 f/4 IS and 300 2.8 IS with new Canon 800 f/5.6 IS, with the shorter and brighter 400 f/2.8 IS, with the interesting 400 f/4 DO and with the legendary 200 f/1.8 L (that Canon has recently replaced with the 200 f/2 IS)...

New macro photos and Sigma 20mm f/1.8 EX DG - October 05, 2008
I have added some new macro photos to the galleries Italy - Trebbia Valley, Italy - Trebbia Valley III, Italy - other places and and in the high resolution gallery Macro III!

These are the last macro of the season here in Italy (but I'm going to take a lot of macro photos next month in Costa Rica!). In the winter months, instead, I plan to do more landscape photography - I have just bought the Sigma 20mm f/1.8 for night landscape photos, and I have published my first impressions on JuzaForum: Sigma 20mm f/1.8 EX DG

Live View and Mirror Lock Up - October 03, 2008
The live view has been introduced some years ago, and nowadays it is found in nearly all SLRs. I have begun using it with the 40D, and now I take all my macro photos using live view! The live view has several advantages...

The new articles is online!  Live View and Mirror Lock Up

Compact Flash and Secure Digital - October 02, 2008
A big update for the Compact Flash and Secure Digital page!

I have added a buying guide, with more info about the storage space you may need, and with updated prices for the most interesting CF and SD cards! Other than that, I have added the results of a couple of CFs with the brand new Canon 5D Mark II! (that I have tried one week ago)

As always, you can contribute with your tests! (you will find instructions at the bottom of the page)
