Getting creative with photo equipment - July 24, 2010
Sometimes, the photo equipment itself can be an interesting compositional element. For my work, I often take photos of cameras and lenses, as illustration for the articles published on JuzaPhoto. But in some situations, the camera or the photographer can become the key for an artistic and unusual photo. A couple of days ago, I was taking photos at few kilometers from home: there was a beautiful sunset and the clouds in the sky had a gradient of color from red to deep blue...

The empty space - July 09, 2010
The emptiness, the silence and the stillness of the desert are something amazing. In some places along the road to Ksar Ghilane, we stopped just to "hear" that silence...it is a kind of weird sensation, as when you listen to music at maximum volume for hours and then you it abruptly ends...so it is in the desert: when there is no wind, you feel like being deaf, like if the whole world had become a movie with no audio. In other places, as in Chott El-Jèrid...

First photos from Tunisia! - June 30, 2010
The first photos from Tunisia are online! Landscapes and reportage: Tunisia  ...and a lot more will come in next days!

In this trip I have carried with me only the Canon 7D - for the first time, I have left the 1DsIII at home (and I have not regretted this choice). Other than that, I have really enjoyed my new Sigma 8-16mm, it is the perfect wide-angle on 7D!

I'm back! - June 29, 2010
I've come back from the beautiful trip to Tunisia! I have seen the Sahara desert, ancient abandoned villages, spectacular beaches...I'm going to post very soon the first photos!

As always, please be patient with the mails, I have a ton of e-mail and it will take some time to reply to everyone!

See you! Tunisia trip from June 14 to June 28! - June 13, 2010
I'm leaving! From June 14 to June 28 I'll be away for a photo trip in Tunisia. During these weeks, I'll have limited access to internet, so I won't reply to mails or update the website until I am back.
In the meantime, you can read dozen of ARTICLES, browse the GALLERIES - hundreds of photos with captions about camera and settings - and, more important, you can participate to the JUZA FORUM! It is a great, friendly community with a lot of good photographers (please remember that new registration will be activated when I am back). If I find some wi-fi connection, I'll provide a couple of updates from the trip on my Facebook page. Enjoy!
Useful travel phrases in four languages - June 11, 2010
When you travel around the world, it is very important to be able to communicate with other persons, at least for the basic things. In this page, I have listed some of the most useful phrases for the traveler in three of the most widespread languages of the world: English, French and Spanish. I have added Italian, too...

Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DC (vs Sigma 12-24 on FF) - June 09, 2010
For years, there has not be any equivalent of the Sigma 12-24 for APS-C users. I have really appreciated the 12-24 on FF, and I wished to see something similar for my Canon 7D. In early 2010, Sigma has announced such lens: the 8-16mm, a lens created exclusively for APS-C cameras. It gives exactly the same angle of view of the 12-24 on FF (if you have a Nikon APS-C camera, 1.5x crop factor), and...

Macro photos with Samsung M8910 camera phone - June 02, 2010
I am a big fan of camera phones: I am always amazed by the results that you can get with the tiny camera of the phone. Few months ago, I bought a Samsung M8910 mobile phone: it has high resolution touch screen, wi-fi, GPS, a lot of applications, and...a 12 megapixel camera! I bought it mainly for snapshots, but the results were so good that I decided to try it even for serious photography. Of course, it does not make much sense to use the camera phone when...
