Nikon D90 - August 27, 2008
Nikon has announced the D90: this camera has a 12 megapixel APS-C sensor, 4.5FPS x 7 RAW (it is not a lot, but it is an amateur camera), 3" LCD, and a big innovation: movie mode. The D90 is able to record movies with audio at 1280x720px resolution! I think that it is a bit step forward, and that in future all cameras with be able to take both video and photo.

Details and discussion: Nikon D90

Canon 50D and Canon 18-200 IS - August 26, 2008

Other than that, Canon has announced a 18-200 IS - but it looks pretty expensive ($700) and it has not USM motor... Details and discussion: Canon 18-200 IS.

Five Lenses For Nature Photography - August 22, 2008
I use only five lenses for my photos: with this lineup, I can photograph almost every nature subject, from landscapes to macro and wildlife. This is not the perfect lineup for everyone - the right lenses depend by your necessities and you personal preferences - but this is what works well for me, and it gives an idea of a good "all around" lineup...

The camera, update - August 14, 2008
The camera is the "earth" of the system. To choose the right camera, you have to consider various things: the first is surely the system itself, that is even more important than a single camera. With time, it is likely that you will upgrade the camera with a more advanced model, while it is not easy to change system if you discover that the one you have choosen doesn't satisfies your necessities...

Nikon D3: the new high ISO king - June 17, 2008
Until one year ago, the noise has been the Achille's heel of Nikon cameras. The new Nikon D3, announced in September 2007, has been a revolutionary improvement for Nikon: its 35mm fullframe sensor may be the very best on the SLR market, in terms of ISO performance. I have had the possibility to test the Nikon D3...

Florida and Louisiana, Part 1 - June 04, 2008
For a naturalist, Florida is one of the most interesting states of the USA: it has many wild environments, and it hosts a great variety of flora and fauna (Florida has almost half of all bird species of the Unites States!). From May 03 to May 23, I have visited many areas of Florida with my friend Daniela - we have begun our trip from the worldwide know Everglades National Park, then we have traveled along the west coast, and we have reached...
