Subjects : Cork, despite being the second largest city in size, is considered the "moral" capital as more authentically Irish than Dublin. This is reflected on the extreme liveliness and beauty of pubs (especially Oliver Plunkett Street) with their written in Irish Gaelic. The city is characterized by the presence of the River Lee which divides and rejoins forming an island once crossed by canals; what you have to the large number of bridges, along with the colorful houses are reflected in the river. In the north of the city, climbing on St Patrick's Hill you can have an overall view of the city (especially the old Shandon neighborhood). In the west zone instead it is the main cathedral of the city (St Finbarr), the UCC (the university) and Elizabeth Forth that are the most architecturally interesting buildings. On the outskirts of the city are Blarney Castle (One of the country's most famous castles), the observatory-castle of Blackrock, the FOTA Wildlife Park, and Cobh; the latter is particularly interesting for its Cathedral, the colored houses and the last docking of Titanic before Intake at sea.

Recommended equipment : Wide-angle, telephoto (especially birds), and a zoom / fixed "standard" for the street.

Best months : Each season has its charm. But probably the best time is in the spring when you can experience first hand the St. Patrick's day and you can enjoy warmer weather and fewer tourists.

How to get there : In Cork, just outside the city, it is one of the most important airports of the country. Another alternative is to arrive in Dublin and then move in the car, train or bus (3h-3,5h). More inconvenient (at least for Italians) arrive by sea from Britain.

Visits : The entry in Cobh Cathedral is free, on the contrary have to pay to get in the main churches of the city. Fota Wildlife Park opens at 10 am (10.30 am on Sundays) and closes at 16.30; the ticket costs 15 Euros for adults.
